Toggenburg Ski Patrol

Scheduling Policy 2007 - 2008

The Toggenburg Ski Patrol schedule has 2 objectives:

1.        To provide targeted coverage based on the number of sliders anticipated, and

2.       To provide patrollers with regularly scheduled opportunities to exercise requisite skills in order to maintain proficiency.

Patrollers are expected to ski a regular weekly schedule that includes either

·         any daytime shift (9 am – 4 pm, or until closing on Sunday); or

·         any combination of two shifts from the following:

o        weekday swing (4 - 7pm)

o        weekday night (7 - closing)

o        weekend morning (9 - 1)

o        weekend afternoon (1 - 4:30)

            Benefits for Toggenburg Ski Patrollers

Patrollers and Auxiliary Patrollers on a regular schedule are provided benefits as follows:

·         Personal season pass

·         Choice of 10 comp passes, or an additional season pass

·         May purchase season passes for immediate family at discounted rate

·         Hot beverages free of charge

·         10-year members will have dues paid by Toggenburg

·         Medical Associates are provided a personal season pass.

·         Patrol Leader is provided seasons passes for all members of his/her immediate family.

Patrollers who are unable to commit to a regular schedule must present the Board of Directors with a request for an alternative schedule.

·         Describe the circumstances that prevent you from committing to a regular schedule, and how long they will be present; and

·         Indicate the days and times you will patrol. Please note that the commitment must entail 10 trips, and should average at least 5 hours per week of operation.

A nonstandard schedule involving the following shifts or dates will be given favorable consideration:

·         any weekday day or swing

·         Daytime Dec. 26-Jan. 1 (Christmas - New Year's week), Jan 15 (Martin Luther King Day), and daytime Feb 19 - 23 (public schools' Winter Break)

Toggenburg patrollers who are unable to commit to any schedule are not eligible for benefits, but may participate as members of our patrol so long as they continue to meet all proficiency requirements.

Article 5.2 of the Toggenburg Ski Patrol By-laws indicates that you must be present for your shifts or find a substitute. It is your responsibility to find a sub if you are not able to patrol during an assigned shift. If you or a substitute is not present for your shift, you are considered "absent without leave" (AWOL). An accumulation of two (2) or more AWOL shifts will result in a reduction or loss of benefits and possible dismissal.  After having made a good faith effort to find a substitute for your shift, and being unable to do so, you must contact the Patrol Leader to explain the situation. If you want to change your scheduled shift you must get approval from the Patrol Leader.
