Re: Strobe Light & Lopper

  •    Paul Martellock suggested we purchase a battery powered strobe light for use at night on the closing tape for trail 21 (On My Way).  I purchased a high intensity  “Planet Bike -Super Flash” blinking light.  It is bright, very compact, and easy to use - it clips on. I’ll bring it to Toggenburg on Saturday and place it in the tool box.

  •  A second pair of loppers will be paced in the Top Shack on Saturday.  This will give us loppers in the Patrol Room (behind the door) and in the Top Shack.

Re: Patrol Room Usage

During last night’s BOD meeting, it was brought up that numerous patrollers have commented on the clutter in the patrol room.  To ensure a safe and productive experience in the patrol room, please see the previously communicated guideline below.

Each shift’s Chief-of-Hill (COH) is responsible for enforcing the following guidelines with their shift patrollers.

  •       Spouses, children, and significant others should not be changing or “hanging out” in the Patrol Room. This is a “medical facility” and should be treated as such.

  •       Due to its limited size and our concern for safety, personal clothing and equipment, with the exception of patrollers’ skis and poles, should not be stored in the Patrol Room. In the past there has been much clutter resulting in a lot of tripping hazards during the heaviest scheduled shifts. This can be avoided by patrollers changing into their duty uniform in the main lodge.

Re: Parking

Per management, this is a reminder that ski patrol personnel need to park in the parking lot on the other side of Toggenburg Road across from the lodge.  This was covered awhile ago, but needs to be reemphasized.  There have been concerns raised with regard to the movement of snowmobile traffic, employee parking, etc.  Please park in the lot on the other side of the road.

Re: Three Items

    1.  I would like to thank those that have stepped up and offered some patrolling assistance during this holiday week.  Thank  you.

    2. There have been some discussions about the top shack AED.  If you refer back to the BOD meeting minutes of 2-18-10, you’ll see that it was decided to leave the AED in the top shack.  No daily transportation needs are required.  The meeting notes read

AEDs

·         Beginning Sunday February 21, by vote of the TSP Board of Directors, one of our AEDs will be located in the Patrol Room and the other will be located in the Top Shack.

·         The location of the TSP AEDs has been a recurring issue. Per NYS Law, use of our AEDs must be by personnel who are currently certified, and hold a valid CPR/AED Card (Lay Rescuer, HeartSaver, or Healthcare Provider). They are not for use by the untrained general public

·         Currently there are only 2 – 3 Toggenburg employees (Non-Ski Patrol) who have the current training.  None of these employees normally work in the lodge, nor do they work in the restaurant.  It is prudent for the Toggenburg Ski Patrol to deploy our equipment where it can best utilized by Patrollers.

This will alleviate the need to transport the AED, daily,  and coincidently lessen the chance of damage and/or loss.

3. A discussion was held with Mr. Hickey and the subject of the timing of patroller’s presence at the opening of the chair lift was brought up.  We are working toward the standard of patrollers being the first one on and the last one off.   So with this in mind, it is prudent that we all have our boots on, at the start of our shift, ready to be the first on the lift.  This may be a new idea for some of the newer Tog employees, but it shouldn’t take long for the idea to catch on.

RE: Spider Straps & Head Blocks

There have been a couple of instances of mice damaging head blocks in toboggans.  To eliminate this problem the BOD agreed to store the head blocks and spider straps in the yellow bags in the future.  The transfer will be made by the candidates on Sunday. (as will be reported in the latest BOD meeting minutes)   This should eliminate the problem.  We can review other ideas in the future, but this was the quickest way to stem the intrusion.  Back boarding an IP with Mickey looking on might be a bit disturbing to those involved.

RE:

Reminder:  During sweep move any closed trail signs, barrier tapes, and other temporary markers, from the trails so that the hill can be groomed without the signs being in the way.
